Christopher P. Coroneos
Chris has been a volunteer since 1995 and from 2003 to 2007 he served as GCF President. As a volunteer, he organized the trip to Disney World so GCF assisted families could participate in the August 1998 AHEPA convention. Prior to his role as President, Chris held a number of leadership positions within GCF. He was First Vice President, acted as a GCF liaison with Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and served as an advisor to “Hope for Life” GCF’s Young Adult Division (YAD).
GCF grew steadily under Chris’s leadership. Chris’s work with the GCF committee and with GCF YAD enabled the organization to gain more notoriety within the Greek-American community in Queens and Long Island. Each year, Greek Night at Shea became a bigger and better event. With Chris’s support, the GCF committee began working on two new and exciting annual fundraisers: Sports Night and the Achilles “Archie” Mavromatis Memorial Gold Classic.
During his time as President, Chris streamlined and formalized many GCF processes, making the organization run more efficiently. A few of his many accomplishments were:
• Adopting GCF as a national project for AHEPA
• Negotiating a successful union of GCF’s partnership with Schneider Children’s Hospital
• Processing many outdated forms and paperwork and ensuring that GCF was up-to-date in all financial and tax matters
Chris continues to represent GCF and at times acts as a spokesman for the organization.
From Chris: “Enhancing the lives of children and their families through my involvement with GCF has been a source of great personal fulfillment. It is an honor to have served as President of this extraordinary organization.”
